Baseball Recap: Cannon Comes Up Short

Cannon easily dispatched Mallard Creek on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Cougars fell just short of the Ballantyne Ridge Wolves by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since April 25, 2024.

Joey Burke was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Colin Kieley was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Cannon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't).
