Baseball Game Preview: Jackson Academy Raiders vs. Hartfield Academy Hawks

For the second straight game, Jackson Academy will face off against Hartfield Academy. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Jackson Academy: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Hartfield Academy has snatched up 12 consecutive wins on the road.

Jackson Academy heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Monday. They fell 6-2 to Hartfield Academy. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Hartfield Academy's part, JP Abt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Abt has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sam Oakley was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Grayson Vance was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Hartfield Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson Academy only posted an OBP of .281.

Jackson Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 20-14. As for Hartfield Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won 17 of their last 20 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season.
