Basketball Preview: Gadsden Panthers vs. Alamogordo Tigers
The Gadsden Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Alamogordo Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gadsden is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Gadsden had to suffer through a rough 51-14 loss at the hands of the Trojans. While losing is never fun, Gadsden can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Trojans are ranked sixth).
Even though Alamogordo has not done well against the Bulldawgs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Alamogordo took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 68-40 victory over the Bulldawgs. Alamogordo pushed the score to 55-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldawgs had little chance of recovering from.
Gadsden's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Alamogordo, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Gadsden lost to the Tigers on the road by a decisive 53-37 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Gadsden avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
