Baseball Recap: Sandy Valley's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Sandy Valley dropped their record down to 13-14 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They lost 13-3 to the Strasburg-Franklin Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 back in April.

As for Strasburg-Franklin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-14. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

For Strasburg-Franklin's part, Caden Dugan made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Dugan posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Strasburg-Franklin is 6-1 when Dugan posts two or more runs, but 7-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brody Baughmam, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Zayden Barr, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Looking ahead, Sandy Valley will take on St. Clairsville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Strasburg-Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
