Baseball Game Preview: Hawaii Prep Ka Makani vs. Pahoa Daggers

For the second straight game, Hawaii Prep will face off against Pahoa. The Ka Makani will square off against the Daggers at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Hawaii Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Hawaii Prep barely beat Pahoa the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Ka Makani were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Daggers on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Ka Makani considering their one-run performance the game before.

Nishiki Iwai and Lex Ni made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Iwai tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Ni tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Iwai went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Ni went 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ren Kamoshita-Langan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Kamea Leleiwi was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Pahoa and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for Hawaii Prep, their record is now 12-4.
