Basketball Game Preview: Millard North Mustangs vs. Lincoln Southeast Knights

The Millard North Mustangs will take on the Lincoln Southeast Knights at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Millard North is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Wasatch Academy, who was ranked fifth in their home state at the time (Millard North was ranked eighth). Millard North received a blow on Saturday as they fell 67-48 to Wasatch Academy.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln Southeast). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Lincoln High 80-51. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Links: they've now won four in a row.

Lincoln Southeast's win came from a few key players Millard North will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Prospedi Mukendi, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mari Shumaker, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine assists.

Lincoln Southeast was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Millard North's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Lincoln Southeast, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.

Millard North was able to grind out a solid win over Lincoln Southeast in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 50-40. Will Millard North repeat their success, or does Lincoln Southeast have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
