Meanwhile, Christopher got themselves on the board against Independence on Thursday, but Independence never followed suit. They put the hurt on the 76ers with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Cougars have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Katelyn Vega tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Alyssa Farrow was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Christopher has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Evergreen Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
