Basketball Game Preview: Bristow Pirates vs. Sperry Pirates

Bristow and Sperry are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Bristow Pirates will head out to challenge the Sperry Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bristow is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Bristow came up short against Cushing and fell 59-46. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the defeat, Bristow saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tj Wilson almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Bristow is 2-1 when Wilson posts eight or more boards, but 3-14 otherwise. Ty Bishop was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Sperry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 71-24 defeat at the hands of Mannford. While losing is never fun, Sperry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 439th, while Mannford is ranked 198th).

Sperry's loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Bristow, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

Everything came up roses for Bristow against Sperry when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 75-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bristow since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
