Basketball Recap: Plainfield East Takes a Loss

Plainfield East lost against Plainfield South back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Plainfield East Bengals were beaten by the Plainfield South Cougars 66-37. The Bengals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Plainfield South to victory, but perhaps none more so than Layla Lesure, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Lesure is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last nine games she's played. Tierra Abner was another key player, going 8 of 16 to rack up 19 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Plainfield East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-23. As for Plainfield South, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-16.

Looking ahead, Plainfield East will challenge Joliet West at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Joliet West's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. As for Plainfield South, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cougars duke it out with the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
