Baseball Recap: Waggener Has No Trouble Against Jeffersontown

Waggener lost to Jeffersontown back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Chargers. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Logan Janiszewski made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Waggener's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 1-8 when he doesn't). Janiszewski was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carsen Ruwe was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Waggener: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Greene, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Waggener's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Jeffersontown, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waggener will host Iroquois at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Jeffersontown, they will take on Francis Parker at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
