Recap: Marion County Red Raiders vs. Winfield Pirates
It was a good run, but the Marion County Red Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 67-57 to Winfield. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Marion County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joe Aldridge. Despite the final result, he scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Aldridge is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tye Madison, who scored 13 points.
Marion County's loss dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Winfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.
Marion County's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on February 1st. Mars Hill Bible has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 395 points over their last six matches. As for Winfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Devils at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alabama (Sulligent is ranked 159th, while the Pirates are ranked 145th).
