Football Recap: Charles City Panthers vs. King & Queen Central Royal Tigers
Charles City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a hard 34-20 fall against the King & Queen Central Royal Tigers. The Panthers lost against the Royal Tigers in their previous head to head back in October of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 80-22 score last time.
Defeat or not, Charles City got some senior leadership from Raizen Hilliard and Shane Jones. Hilliard picked up 130 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Jones threw for 135 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes. Hilliard's longest reception was for an incredible 79 yards.
Charles City's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for King & Queen Central, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charles City will venture away from home to challenge Mathews at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Charles City is facing Mathews at the right time seeing as Mathews is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for King & Queen Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Middlesex at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Middlesex will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
