Basketball Recap: South Takes a Loss

If South was feeling good fresh off their 58-34 takedown of North last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Rebels took a 65-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riverside Beavers. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 558th, while the Beavers are ranked 216th).

Drew Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Riverside, going 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Harden, who went 7 of 12 en route to 16 points.

South has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Riverside, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

South is taking a road trip to challenge Chardon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverside, they will square off against Mayfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.4 points per game this season.
