Baseball Game Preview: Continental Pirates vs. Holgate Tigers

The Continental Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Holgate Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Continental has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Continental fell victim to Paulding and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 12-0 to the Panthers. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Continental saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haden Streicher, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Holgate didn't have quite enough to beat Patrick Henry on Saturday and fell 5-4.

Zack Boecker was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Grady Hoffer made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those doubles were his first of the season.

Holgate now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Continental, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

Continental might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Holgate in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
