Softball Recap: New Lothrop Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

New Lothrop dropped their record down to 10-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Clio Mustangs, falling 8-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hornets have suffered since April 16th.

As for Clio, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

For Clio's part, the result came thanks to Addie Taylor's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks. Taylor has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Layla Hutchinson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Madalyn Raleigh, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, New Lothrop will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Midland at 4:00 p.m. As for Clio, they will face off against Lake Fenton on Saturday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
