Football Recap: Andres Spencer Leads Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy's Defense on Friday

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy dropped down to 4-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 42-24 bruising from the John Carroll Catholic Rams. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 48-13 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2020.

Even if they lost, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Andres Spencer was the leader with two. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.2 total tackles per game. Jaeden McMillan got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

As for John Carroll Catholic, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.0 points on average over those games.

John Carroll Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Summerall, who threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 33 yards. A healthy portion of Summerall's aerial production (120 yards to be exact) went to Kj Davis, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Looking ahead, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cocoa Beach at 7:00 p.m. The Tigers will be up against the Minutemen's rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.29 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for John Carroll Catholic, they will venture away from home to challenge Jensen Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Rams 13.2, the Falcons 4.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
