Basketball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

If Columbia was feeling good fresh off their 62-39 takedown of Wesclin last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Columbia Eagles fell just short of the Breese Central Cougars by a score of 57-55 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost seven in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Columbia lost, don't look at Sam Donald. Despite the final result, he posted 26 points. Donald continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie Smajic, who had 13 points.

Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 26-7. As for Breese Central, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 27-5.
