Football Recap: WISH Academy Starts Season with Loss on the Road

WISH Academy had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 47-13 loss at the hands of the Bellflower Buccaneers.

Bellflower's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ta'Lia Johnson led the charge by rushing for 86 yards and one score, while also picking up 80 receiving yards and one TD. Another passer making a difference was Kendyll Upshaw, who threw for 218 yards and one touchdown on only 19 passes.

Bellflower pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. WISH Academy will head out to take on Elizabeth at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bellflower, they will be taking part in a tournament against Beckman at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
