Softball Recap: Sullivan's Loss Ends 14-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Sullivan dropped their record down to 9-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's 14-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They fell 5-2 to the Edgewood Mustangs. The Golden Arrows were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Rachel Eslinger was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Edgewood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

On Edgewood's side, ALLY BLAND spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. BLAND has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, OLIVIA McPHERSON was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Coming up, Sullivan will host Riverton Parke at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Edgewood, they will head out to take on Linton-Stockton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Miners' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
