Softball Game Preview: Red Hook Raiders vs. Wallkill Panthers

Red Hook is 1-6 against Wallkill since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Raiders will host the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Red Hook turned things around against Ellenville on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 17-5 win.

Meanwhile, Wallkill posted their closest victory since April 10th on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Our Lady of Lourdes, sneaking past 7-6. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Grace Rodriguez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Red Hook's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 2-9. As for Wallkill, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.

Red Hook came up short against Wallkill in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, falling 5-2. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
