Baseball Game Preview: Paradise Valley Trojans vs. Ironwood Eagles

Paradise Valley is a perfect 7-0 against Ironwood since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Paradise Valley's last matchup with Verrado could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. The Trojans came up short against the Vipers, falling 9-3. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Paradise Valley got a good showing from Jordy Nelson, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Nelson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shawn Green made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one double.

Meanwhile, Ironwood lost 10-1 to Lake Havasu on Thursday.

Ironwood dropped their record down to 6-16 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Paradise Valley, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

Ironwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Paradise Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Ironwood, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Paradise Valley's hitters?
