Baseball Recap: Zephyrhills Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Admiral Farragut

Zephyrhills Christian Academy's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Admiral Farragut BlueJackets as they made off with an 18-3 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by ten runs or more this season.

Sergio Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Zephyrhills Christian Academy is undefeated when Garcia posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Zephyrhills Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Gunner Bingham, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Bingham has posted since back in February. Peyton Ward also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Zephyrhills Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .644. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Zephyrhills Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Admiral Farragut, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Zephyrhills Christian Academy has already played their next contest, a 7-0 win against Tenoroc on the 4th. As for Admiral Farragut, they will head out on the road to challenge Sarasota Military Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
