Softball Recap: Holly Pond Broncos vs. Hanceville Bulldogs
Holly Pond had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-10 to make it nine. They came up short against the Hanceville Bulldogs, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-3 on March 10th.
As for Hanceville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12-1. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 10th (when they won 18-3).
For Hanceville's part, Kynzlee Farr made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Farr was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hanceville got a massive performance out of KK Butler, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Butler a new career-high. Laila Lewis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holly Pond will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Appalachian at 4:30 p.m. on April 16. As for Hanceville, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Fairview at 4:30 p.m.
