Baseball Game Preview: Deming Wildcats vs. Alamogordo Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Deming Wildcats challenge Alamogordo Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Deming's tournament run continued when they took on Los Alamos on Friday. Deming fell just short of Los Alamos by a score of 4-3. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Deming saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Mosier, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Alamogordo faced Clovis in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Alamogordo fell just short of Clovis by a score of 6-5. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wildcats since on Friday.

Kade Kiss was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Preston Eldred led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Jaden Ruiz also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Even though they lost, Alamogordo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Deming's record is now 6-4. As for Alamogordo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season.
