Volleyball Game Preview: Carlmont Scots vs. Burlingame Panthers

Carlmont is 2-8 against Burlingame since October of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Scots will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

Carlmont will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Aragon, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Scots were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Dons on Tuesday.

Carlmont got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 30-28, 25-7, 25-21.

Sequoia came into Tuesday's match looking for another win against Burlingame, but Sam Hollrah wouldn't allow it. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Ravens on Tuesday for which the team can thank Hollrah, who had 14 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-16, 25-14.

Carlmont now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Burlingame, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-11.

Carlmont came out on top in a nail-biter against Burlingame in their previous matchup back in September, sneaking past 3-2. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Panthers' Elaina Newman, who had eight digs and four aces. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Scots still be able to contain Newman? There's only one way to find out.
