Baseball Recap: Carencro Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Carencro's offense. They lost 12-0 to the New Iberia Yellowjackets on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost three in a row.

Banyon Theriot was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Carencro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Those two hits gave Johnson a new career-high.

Carencro's record now sits at 5-21. As for New Iberia, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

While Carencro had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
