Basketball Recap: Brighton Comes Up Short

Brighton extended their losing streak to 15 on Friday, dropping them down to 1-23. They took a blow against the Bolivar Central Tigers, falling 67-30. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 77-14 back in January.

As for Bolivar Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Brighton is ranked 396th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jordan Dixon was a one-man wrecking crew as he went 6-for-9 on his way to 14 points along with eight boards and six steals. Another player making a difference was Kealan Polk, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 13 points.

Coincidentally, Brighton and Bolivar Central will both be playing Fayette Ware the next time they take the court. The Cardinals will head out to face the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Tigers will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
