Basketball Recap: Williams' Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Williams's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 62-47 victory over the Red Rock Scorpions. Considering the Vikings' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Red Rock's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maria Saldana, who posted 27 points. Dalila Pedroza was another key player, putting up nine points and six steals.

Williams moved to 3-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Red Rock, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williams will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Seligman at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Red Rock also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Joseph City at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
