Baseball Game Preview: Ware Shoals Hornets vs. Emerald Vikings

The Ware Shoals Hornets are taking a road trip to square off against the Emerald Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ware Shoals has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ware Shoals came up short against Ninety Six on Monday, falling 13-1. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Emerald had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Wildcats. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last eight times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Beau Hite was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Emerald: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Holden Styron, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Emerald's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Ware Shoals, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13-1.

Ware Shoals might still be hurting after the 10-4 loss they got from Emerald in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
