Baseball Game Preview: Minor Tigers vs. Shelby County Wildcats

The Minor Tigers will head out to face off against the Shelby County Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Minor will be strutting in after a victory while Shelby County will be coming in after a loss.

Minor can't be too worried about heading out to take on Shelby County: they just beat Parker at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Tigers blew past the Thundering Herd 16-5 on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Kaleb Brown was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ryan Farness was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Minor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parker only posted an OBP of .414.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Shelby County challenged Briarwood Christian on Thursday. The Wildcats came up short against the Lions, falling 14-4. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shelby County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Pennington, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Minor has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-18 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.7 runs. As for Shelby County, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.

Minor suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Shelby County when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
