Softball Recap: Pope John Paul II Has No Trouble Against Harpeth Hall

Pope John Paul II barely beat Harpeth Hall the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights blew past the Honeybears 14-4 on Tuesday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Laney Jackson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Fisher, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Calisi, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Pope John Paul II always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Pope John Paul II's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-4. As for Harpeth Hall, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
