Baseball Game Preview: Lakeside Warriors vs. Winnfield Tigers

The Lakeside Warriors will face off against the Winnfield Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Lakeside is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 29, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 9-2 to Winnfield.

For Winnfield's part, Jacob Whisonant was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Whisonant has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Luke Page, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Aron Guerrero was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Winnfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.3 runs. Lakeside's loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
