Piedmont wins going away against Central Academy

Recap: Piedmont Panthers vs. Central Academy Cougars

The Piedmont Panthers came into Tuesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 53-27 margin over Central Academy. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-13.

Emily Polk continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 19 straight games. Mikayla Baucom was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.

Despite the defeat, Central Academy had strong showings from Abby Bliven, who scored four points along with two steals and two blocks, and Justice Hegwood, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hegwood has scored all season.

Piedmont's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Central Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-18 with that defeat, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season.

Piedmont won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mount Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. As for Central Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Forest Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Central Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
