Softball Game Preview: Torrey Pines Falcons vs. Mira Mesa Marauders

The Torrey Pines Falcons will take on the Mira Mesa Marauders in a tournament on Wednesday. Torrey Pines will be strutting in after a win while Mira Mesa will be coming in after a loss.

Torrey Pines saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rancho Bernardo, sneaking past 8-6. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Mira Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 17-5 to Steele Canyon. One positive for the Marauders, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Bailey McBride was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Aria Phruksukarn was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Mira Mesa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Torrey Pines now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mira Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Torrey Pines took their win against Mira Mesa in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. Does Torrey Pines have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mira Mesa turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
