Softball Recap: Emerson Takes a Loss

Emerson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 10-1 to the Pompton Lakes Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in April.

Emerson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brielle Schumeyer, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Addison Youmans also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Emerson now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Pompton Lakes, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emerson will head out to face off against Hasbrouck Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pompton Lakes, they will square off against St. Mary at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gaels have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
