Baseball Recap: Nogales Takes a Loss

If Nogales was feeling good fresh off their 13-2 takedown of Duarte on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Nobles fell 7-2 to the Falcons on Thursday. The Nobles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 13-2.

Nathan Lopez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Lopez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Carlos Cruz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Benji Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Nogales' defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Duarte, their record is now 13-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nogales will challenge Schurr at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Duarte, they will face off against Diamond Bar at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons are facing the Brahmas at the right time seeing as the Brahmas are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
