The Pleasant Grove Eagles will square off against the Sheldon Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Pleasant Grove has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Thursday, Pleasant Grove came up short against Cosumnes Oaks and fell 11-6.
Natalie Brozaitis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Shealynn Stinson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Sheldon was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Cosumnes Oaks by a score of 3-2. The Huskies' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Micah Kennedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.
On the hitting side, Sheldon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Crotzer, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Grace Harding also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Pleasant Grove now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Sheldon, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Pleasant Grove has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Sheldon struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pleasant Grove couldn't quite finish off Sheldon when the teams last played back in May of 2025 and fell 8-6. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
