Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Alexandria-Monroe

Alexandria-Monroe extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping them up to 16-4. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Frankton Eagles a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexandria-Monroe got a great performance from Landyn Fletcher as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Fletcher has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mason Fuller and Jackson Brizendine did most of the damage at the plate: Fuller went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Brizendine went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Fuller has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Rowland, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As for Frankton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Frankton's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Baker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Alexandria-Monroe has already played their next game, a 28-1 victory against Elwood on the 7th. As for Frankton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-0 defeat against Madison-Grant on the 7th.
