Softball Recap: Colbert County Gets the Win

Colbert County owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against the Belgreen Bulldogs by a score of 5-0. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Makayli Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Hallie Holland was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Gracie Summers also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Colbert County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Colbert County now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Belgreen, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.

Coming up, Colbert County will take on Lindsay Lane Christian Academy at 6:40 p.m. on Friday. Colbert County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Lindsay Lane Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Belgreen, they will face off against Decatur Heritage Christian Academy at 2:40 p.m. on Friday. Belgreen is facing Decatur Heritage Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Decatur Heritage Christian Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
