Softball Recap: Branford Hornets vs. Hamden Green Dragons
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Old Lyme, Branford was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Hamden Green Dragons by a score of 12-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hornets considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Shelby Burnham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 19 Ks.

At the plate, Sophia Rasile was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tia Graziano, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5.
The win got Branford back to even at 1-1. As for Hamden, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.
Coming up, Branford will face off against Shelton at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Hamden, they will challenge Wilbur Cross at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
