Baseball Recap: Hillcrest Takes a Loss

Hillcrest fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Rancho Christian on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2. The Trojans were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matches prior), but the Eagles' pitchers proved too tough.

Luke Mueller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Logan Broesel was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

With the defeat, Hillcrest broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-6-1. As for Rancho Christian, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Hillcrest will venture away from home to face off against Canyon Springs at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rancho Christian, they will take on Linfield Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
