Football Recap: PURE Academy Comes Up Short

PURE Academy was the 33-0 winner over Southwind when they last played one another back in October of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Royals were beaten by the Jaguars 48-15 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Jaguars are ranked 11th).

Kelvin Perkins produced another solid effort throwing for 316 yards and five TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also punching in a pair of touchdowns on the ground for Southwind. Those 316 passing yards gave Perkins a new career-high. Willie Wilkins was Perkins' top target, picking up 46 receiving yards and two scores.

This is the second loss in a row for PURE Academy and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Southwind, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

PURE Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southwind, they will challenge Germantown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
