Softball Game Preview: Hanahan Hawks vs. Beaufort Eagles

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Hanahan Hawks challenge Beaufort Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hanahan is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Hanahan fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Fort Dorchester on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 11-8 to the Patriots.

Meanwhile, Beaufort was able to grind out a solid victory over Battery Creek on Wednesday, taking the game 6-2. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Dolphins: they've now won eight in a row.

Adalyn Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Arianna Smith was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Emily Robinson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Beaufort hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Battery Creek struck out eight times.

Hanahan's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Beaufort, their record is now 2-3.

Hanahan was able to grind out a solid victory over Beaufort in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hanahan since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
