Basketball Recap: Grape Creek Comes Up Short

After flying high against Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy last Tuesday, Grape Creek came back down to earth. The Grape Creek Eagles took a 39-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Merkel Badgers. The Eagles lost against the Badgers in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 64-38 score last time.

Grape Creek's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Merkel, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-15.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Clyde the next time they take the court. Grape Creek will host Clyde at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while Merkel will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on January 24th.
