Softball Recap: Selah Picks Up Eighth Straight Win on the Road

Selah put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Zillah Leopards. Considering the Vikings have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Avery Brewer was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Kylie Colton and Elliott McLaughlin did most of the damage at the plate: Colton went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while McLaughlin went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI McLaughlin has posted over her last 12 contests. Taylee Gonzalez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Selah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in six consecutive games.

Selah's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.6 runs over those games. As for Zillah, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Selah will have a chance to go back-to-back against Zillah: the pair will be back at it again later today.
