Preview: Cornersville Bulldogs vs. Lewis County Panthers
The Cornersville Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Lewis County Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Cornersville and 11 for Lewis County.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-29, which was the final score in Cornersville's tilt against Mt. Pleasant last Monday. While losing is never fun, Cornersville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while Mt. Pleasant is ranked 139th).
Meanwhile, Lewis County pushed their score all the way to 69 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 92-69 walloping at the hands of Summertown. Lewis County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-28.
Cornersville's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Lewis County, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Cornersville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 74-57 loss to Lewis County in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Cornersville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
