Softball Game Preview: San Marcos Royals vs. Pacifica Tritons

For the second straight game, San Marcos will face off against Pacifica. The Royals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tritons at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, San Marcos turned things around against Pacifica on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Tritons by a score of 11-6. The Royals' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.

Lucia Dessert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Jessica Vega was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Mandarino, who went 1-for-5 with one home run and four RBI.

San Marcos hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pacifica struck out eight times.

San Marcos' win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-10. As for Pacifica, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
