Flag Football Recap: Boulder Creek Takes Down Ranked Mesquite

Boulder Creek faced Mesquite in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Jaguars won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Wildcats 7-6.

A big part of Boulder Creek's victory came down to the chemistry between Sophia Coffman and her top target Lauren Grunert. Coffman threw for 198 yards and one touchdown while Grunert picked up 130 receiving yards and one score. Grunert got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 70 yards.

Boulder Creek didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Grunert and McKayla Chapman.

Boulder Creek's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Mesquite, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-1.

Boulder Creek didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-20 loss against Gilbert on the 18th. As for Mesquite, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 18-12 victory against Arizona College Prep on the 18th.
