Softball Recap: Eminence Redwings vs. Summersville Wildcats
Eminence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They suffered a rough 16-5 defeat at the hands of the Summersville Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Eminence of the 10-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
For Summersville's part, Riley Buttress made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Buttress has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Buttress was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Tara Bryant was a standout: she scored three runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Bryant is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Kaytlin Martin, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3.
Eminence's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Summersville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-8.
