Basketball Game Preview: Lovejoy Wildcats vs. Riverdale Raiders

The Lovejoy Wildcats and the Riverdale Raiders will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Lovejoy turned things around against Banneker on Thursday. They managed a 68-64 win over the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Riverdale beat Stephenson 58-49 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Riverdale is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Lovejoy, they now also have a winning record of 6-5.

Lovejoy ended up a good deal behind Riverdale in their previous meeting back in December of 2016, losing 73-55. Can Lovejoy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
